3 years ago I made a pair of socks for Mama. When she came to visit in October I tut tutted at the state of the toes, which had gotten pretty threadbare. So I confiscated them and reknit them!
I chopped the feet off right at the beginning of the gusset increases. Since I used smaller needles to rekint them, I had to increase about 8 stitches so they would be the right size. Then smooth sailing until the toe decreases.
I used a star toe decrease, and I think it looks pretty nice.
The yarn is Patons kroy socks, leftovers from my first pair of handknit socks. I bought that yarn in high school, or shortly thereafter.
Here’s hoping the socks hold up for at least another 2 or 3 years.
