So I haven’t posted in almost three months. In that time, I’ve graduated, finished knitting a blanket, considered grad school, finsihed the second sick of a pair, got a job, started a sweater for my mom, bought various dishes for when I eventually move out, watched some movies, read some books, listened to some music, petted some cats, finished a long ago started sweater, played some board games, and started working on a set of potholders and oven mitts. That sounds like a lot of stuff, but it really isn’t that much, sepecially the knitting.
I finshed this orange log cabin blanket sometime around Christmas or New Year’s.
It’ not that big, but it works as a nice lap blanket. And it’s very snuggly and cuddly and I love it. I want to make more blankets, because I like having something mindless to work on, and knitting this one didn’t last nearly long enough (I started it in September).
It was so cold out when I was taking pictures today, so I wrapped the blanket around my neck because it was warmer than the scarf that I had on. I wasn’t wearing a coat because I wanted to take some pictures of the brown sweater I was wearing. I didn’t get to because the camera stopped working. I tink the batteries might be dead.
Here’s a picture of my graduation cap all decorated up.
The colors of our college are purple and gold, and since my major was nutrition, I decided to make my cap pretty with grapes and lemons. I worked on it the night before graduation while halfway watching Dr. Who and Lord of the Rings.
I haven’t been doing much knitting since I got a job because I’m tired on the days I work and busy doing things like fishing and cooking on my days off. That and the fact that I’ve been in a bit of a knitting block lately. The day before my first real day of work I finished knitting a sock, and since then there hasn’t been much that I’ve wanted to knit. Or rather, much that I’ve wanted to make. I want to knit, but I don’t have much idea of what I want to make, if that makes any sense. I satarte a sweater for my mom, but it’s cabled, and that requires a lot of concentration, so I can’t work on it while watching a movie without having to fix a miscrossed cable several rows back. I think I’ll be able to get into the groove of it eventually, but I haven’t yet.
Last week or possibly the week before I went to Goodwill and bought an XL teal sweater, and I unravelled it and simmered it, and I’ve already made a potholder out of it, with plans to mke some more and some oven mitts too. It’s currently in the washing machine; I’m hoping that it will felt, if not, well, then I guess I’ll make something else out of the yarn.
